Western Carolina University finance students Garrett Chmiola and Emily Ranson were among 50 students from 25 colleges and universities who attended a financial adviser industry conference, the TD Ameritrade Institutional’s National LINC 2017, in San Diego in early February.

The WCU students were accompanied on the trip by Grace Allen, professor of finance in the university’s School of Accounting, Finance, Information Systems and Business Law.

The students had an opportunity to connect with industry experts and explore job opportunities during the conference, which brings together advisers, technology providers, asset managers and practice management experts for three days of learning, collaboration and networking.

TD Ameritrade Institutional invites undergraduate financial planning students from schools across the country to attend the annual conference. The firm covers travel and hotel expenses for the students and program directors.

Conference speakers included David Cameron, former prime minister of the United Kingdom.
