February is “I Love WCU” month, with special events and activities.

With the spirit of Valentine’s Day in mind, Western Carolina University will launch a monthlong “I Love WCU” campaign throughout February, with special events and activities.

Valentine’s Day is Tuesday, Feb. 14. Keeping with the theme, among the activities will be an ongoing opportunity for students, alumni, faculty and staff to share why or how much they love WCU, including through hearts and cards, social media messages and a dedicated webpage at love.wcu.edu.

There will be a campus event for WCU employees with a complimentary Starbucks bar and desserts on Thursday, Feb. 16, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. in the A.K. Hinds University Center’s Illusions Club.

“We want faculty and staff to attend, fill out an ‘I Love WCU’ heart, sharing why they love this university,” said Claire Burns, director of annual giving. “We’ll also thank them for their additional contributions, those in the form of donations and gifts, which are incredibly meaningful.”

Last year, 19 percent of WCU employees participated in annual giving efforts, donating more than $199,000 to help support students and programs. This year, the goal is to have 25 percent ― or more ― participate. To show continued support and contribute, go to go.wcu.edu/givefacstaff.
